It is not sold as a standalone product though as the is very little difference in price between it and 10Mb L, it is a retention package.

That is pretty normal for a Virginmedia modem as all updates are locked down and every time you reboot or the modem reboots you will see similar information in the event logs.
You should not be losing connection and having the modem reboot 2/3 times a day so as you appear to on a trial I would call the number they have given you for the specialist support.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
id say a lot of existing users will get this eventually as when replacement modems are needed and virgin wont be issuing modems any longer unfortunately.

We still hold stock for standard modems because otherwise the would be a £60 charge.

The hubs will not be forced upon us as otherwise anyone who had already paid £60 for the privilege of owning one would be rather upset, as the EPC2100 is still manufactured by Cisco I can see standard modems being supplied for a very long time.

Re: Virgin to give new Superhub out.
the hubs will be forced upon people wanting to upgrade to 100mb which in my opinion is a blantent rip off from Virgin seeing that the 50mb modems are capable of 400mb. Even when they showcased the 200mb in the summer what did they use a 50mb modem.

Please explain why it is a rip off? How much is the hub for customers upgrading to 100mb? For all you know it could be free!, the d-link router cant handle 100Meg wired.

According to Ignition the problem isn't the downstream, it's the upstream
http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/.../209343#M25588
50Mbit modem can do 4 bonded upstream channels, SuperHub can do 8

You mooching about Igni?

Yes - re-read what Ben said, he was referring to downstream.

If you think Virgin make some kind of enormous profit from requiring the hubs for upgrading customers you are very much mistaken.
It's needed because it can bond more than 4 channels and Virgin are using more than 4 channels for 100Mbps and will absolutely need more than 4 channels for 200Mbps, simples.
