Even all of the Virgin Media TV Service posts amount to the numbers I've quoted. Add in fixed phone, mobile phone, broadband, billing issues, e-mail problems etc. and I've severely underestimated how many threads and posts that comes to.
If it's coming soon or recently arrived to Virgin TV then it is valid to discuss it here. Otherwise search thoroughly to find an existing appropriate thread in which to research and discuss your topic or start a new thread for it.

So are you saying this is the right place for TiVo or not, as it's coming soon to Virgin TV? I would also like to point out that Media Boys first post has coming soon info for TiVo in it.
Maybe we should start a thread to discuss what we can discus in this thread?

Have you been promoted to a moderator? Let them decide what is appropriate, they have also asked us time and time again not to embolden text as that would indicate a moderators edit or decision.

I agree. Would much rather a Tivo thread and all that news stuck in there. This thread has already been about what content was becoming available. If no new content is coming soon that let it drop down the forum, at least then I would know nothing new was coming.
As it is people discuss anything and everything in this thread.
(apologies for adding to the drivel in this thread!)

The MODs closed the TiVo preview thread because "it was already being discussed in the coming soon thread. "

Unless people wish to start receiving infractions these arguments need to stop now or move to PMs.

It's Media Boy's thread so he should decide and, as you point out, he too makes announcements regarding technology such as TiVo in 'Post One'. So I am saying that, like a channel that is coming soon, TiVo can, IMHO, be discussed here. Admittedly some of the discussion so far has been detailed speculation on how it might work when it arrives but we've always had that.
If you mention a sports channel, we get discussion on footie, wrestling, american football, basketball etc. but nobody seems to complain.

I was simply stating my understanding of what constitutes 'Coming Soon to Virgin TV' and my opinion on what I believe belongs in this thread. There is nothing to suggest that it relates solely to channels (in the traditional sense) or content and, even if it did, as TiVo will bring new content in the form of channels, movies, archives, web content (e.g. IMDb, YouTube etc.) it is valid to discuss what and how it might deliver these. If you exclude TiVo on the basis of this thread being only for channels coming, going or changing, you would have to exclude On Demand, Search, HD, Red Button and a whole host of other things that are not related to plain vanilla TV channels.
I am not aware of any restriction on the use of the highlighting features of the forum software (e.g. bold, italic, underline or colour) in order to clarify a post.

Lew, that isn't particularly helpful. People still don't know if they should or should not submit posts regarding TiVo. PMs will not determine whether or not the majority of people wish the advent of TiVo to be discussed in this thread. By all means please express your own opinion on the matter as a user or take a stance as a moderator and set up a poll thread to decide whether TiVo and other non-vanilla flavoured items like those I mentioned above are valid for discussion here.
As it happens, TiVo is a long way off for me so, for now, I'm just defending the right to discuss it's potential impact on our viewing experience in the future.

Oh, and one more thing, if anyone just wants the succinct version of what and when things are happening there's always the Virgin Media Changelog to check on.

I'm pretty sure I was perfectly clear that I was referring to the bickering and arguments.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV
I, for one, read this thread regularly and am very interested in everything related to Virgin Media TV - upcoming programmes, TiVo, picture quality and all the related stuff. Too often it's just a bunch of people complaining or slagging off Virgin. More info on everything and anything that's coming soon to Virgin Media, please!

Yes Red Button on sky sports is due in 2011 rumoured to be in january, although i hope as a cricket fan its more then just a football match choice option, its one of those things that will just turn up one morning i suppose although i think media boy did mention january.
As for TiVo i thought they were going to do a soft launch with a few customers this side of christmas, with a full rollout in the new year,as for the price well i think nobody knows what that will be as of yet.
