Re: Traffic Management Policy

This is coming from someone in a congested area who doesnt use p2p and nttp so should benefit from the policy (but doesnt much).

I think VM really need to revert the decision and turn the shaping off. Congestion is one thing but all the downsides of the shaping is another. I fear tho they will only get rid if they have something to replace it with such as that sandevine, they wont simply turn it off. I am considering emailing neil with links to info about it and comcast etc.

Re: Traffic Management Policy

I doubt VM will lose many customers over this, as not many people will notice, I am yet to be unaffected, my torrents are going at 3Mb/s and my gaming is brillaint.

We went all through this when (was it the 20Mb?) just before the 50Mb came out. now the same thing is happening again just before the 100Mb comes out.

everyone will probably have to upgrade to 100 because the 50 has become slow. just like they all went up to 50 because the 20 became slow.

I see it says on your name Virgin Media Staff, maybe staff are excempt from the shafting.

I really disapointed with VM. Been with them for 10 years and I do feel its time to go and look elsewhere. 50mbs is the premium broadband and it should be untouched.

100mbs is going to be hit as well, apart from the higher upload speeds I cant think of why anyone would upgrade.

I doubt it. Virgin media don't care about the quality of service, they only want your money.

It because you are staff that why it won't affect u. VM must have special non-traffic for all staffs and employees!

Just thought i would ask if you have any insider knowledge on the current state of play regarding the traffic management system, seems Virgin are acutely aware of the impact to World of Warcraft and Warhammer judging by the posts on the support forum.

I played online last night and noticed alot of short bursts of lag, something i have never experience with Virgin before.

Appreciate you might not know but thought i would ask.

I am going to try Black Ops tonight.

This is xbox live by the way, i assume that this could be excluded from the p2p policy pretty easily ?

Great, the more we sent, the more VM will do something about it to avoid BBC Watchdog as a warning sign from us all.

Re: Traffic Management Policy

Regardless of what Watchdog do it isn't getting switched off.

Wouldn't all this time writing to Anne Robinson, Ofcom, MPs, The Queen, God, The Pope, Allah, etc just be better spent looking at alternatives, giving VM their notice under the clause allowing exit if service is reduced, and hitting them in the pocket?

No-one is exempt from the throttling.

Neil Berkett is I'm sure quite aware of the concerns, VM's own community forum has a number of active threads on the matter.

Quite right Igni, however those who are complaining of being affected will not leave for another ISP.

It's a re-run of when STM was introduced.
