I don't find many people agreeing with me either! It would be nice if they offered the customers affected a discount if say they agreed to a new 12 month XL contract, otherwise I wouldn't blame them one bit if they jumped ship. It's not as if it's a straight price increase, they are actually forcing an upgrade if they want to continue receiving their current services which must be wrong.

If they offer them a discount then us customers who are willing to pay for higher packages would have to subsidise them.
If they jump ship then who are they going to jump ship to? Sky's minimum package is £19 (going up to £19.50 I believe). I wonder as well how many people took out the £7 option. TV choice is nice to have in with the xl package but no way would I pay that for it especially if I chose, or could only afford, to pay for one of the lower tiers. I'm also sorry to see this option go but let's face it, it's not going to be the end of the world, even to most of the people who took this option.

I do agree with this, but ther is one thing that could let this down ( the number of subscribers of the lower teir packs )

What happened with the VIP50 pckage as most of the VIP20 custs were not happy with it and they were offered the SKY HD sub free for 6 months.

Are you on a retention deal, lots of people seem to be so are they not being subsidised?. They can jump ship on to whoever they like I assume. If you are not an XL customer then there no longer really seems any compelling reason to stay with VM, virtually no HD and no on demand other than catch up and PPV, I'd personally rather have Sky if I wasn't an XL customer, at least you would get on demand aligned to your sub and a wider choice of SD channels and even without paying the £10 HD charge you would still get most of the non XL HD channels like BBC HD etc.

Well touché on the discount. I have got a loyalty discount. I will give you that one. It would possibly be a good idea to give them at least an introductory discount to xl.
I stand by what I am saying on moving to Sky though. One minute you are sorry for people who can't afford XL, then you suggest they might take out Sky which is £19 minimum. If they wanted a wider choice of popular sd channels they would have to pay more than that, in which case they would be better getting xl. They would then have tv choice back, and ESPN and some HD channels.
I wonder how much on demand they would get for £19 anyway. It being tied to a package isn't necessarily a good thing as the stuff they would get is probably on their linear channels anyway. They would also lose catch up on the four main channels.
Anyway we are off topic here. I wonder if the mods can move these posts to the correct thread where this is already under discussion.

£20 (2 packs) would cover all of Sky's entertainment and lifestyle channels but more importantly the attached on demand content plus a lot more FTA content like CBS. Anyway I agree we are off topic and I doubt we will ever agree which is fine, it's just my opinion and it will not change. For the lower tier packages I think Sky offers far more than VM which I guess is what I am saying.

I did not say it was sky fault but we know that Sky content is coming to VoD on Virgin and as Living and Sky One are both on the XL pack it makes sense to remove TV Choice for customers that are on M+ and pay £7 for TV choice, so for a price of £12.50 they would be able to see content the rest of us are paying £23/29 for when subscribing to the XL pack.
Edit: Just noticed that Sky One is actually on the M+, but there are other channels in the XL pack that are on TV Choice.

Just to let you know in case you have not picked this up in the V+ thread http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/10...hd-bcc1hd.html
Noticed that certain series records such as Strictly Come Dancing and Graham Norton that were on BBC HD have now dissapeared as they are now on BBC1 HD. Had to reset them. Beware.

There was also an announcement to this effect during the end credits of last weeks episode of The Apprentice.

One thing I noticed was that QI one BBC 1 HD is upscaled, but is in HD on BBC HD. Very odd...

there's still 2 days until the official date of BBC1HD so i'm sure any problems will be fixed by then.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV
PCNE to stay on Virgin Media (Ex-ntl only) - for an extra month.
I have today been told that PCNE is being removed on 1st December and NOT today as reported by me.
However viewers can no longer add PCNE to their package.
---------- Post added at 12:15 ---------- Previous post was at 11:13 ----------
ZING and Zee Punjabi may launch in old Telewest areas next month.
I have also been told today that ZING and Zee Punjabi should become available on Virgin Media in old Telewest areas on December 1st as part of the new Asian Channels packages prices.
