I've been throughly happy with my 50MB/s from day 1. It's been as solid as a rock. Whenever I test it it's always good.

But the old image in my signature is accurate, I get full speed when downloading from local sources and newsgroups.
What Anti-virus system have you got running. I get this type of result with Kaspersky 2010 unless I temporarily disable the "web anti virus" option.

I've had 50mb from the minute it was made available in Lincoln. I've had it at 2 properties and my downloads always hit 6mbps no matter what time of day i'm downloading, very pleased so far.

That is a common with internet protection software etc. They take up a lot of CPU. Just watch your CPU usage when you do a speed test. If it goes a sustained 90% + then your speed test probably will not be accurate.

Virus ware etc can cut your actual download speed. I have given up on Kasperski, Norton and McAfee, opting for MS security essentials. This uses hardly any CPU. Just in case a nasty gets through I keep SpyHunter ready to zap it.

Re: 50mb Broadband - Post Your Speed & Vote

I get odd speeds from speedtest. London seems to be the most consistent but the ones closer to me up in Scotland never show full speed.

Speed measuring on the PC with DU meter is almost always at 6000KB/s +
