Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
My Experience
phoned Straight through to retentions.
Pleasant chat with a guy called Kevin, along the lines of:
"Hi, I've come thorught to you about the VIP50 deal, CS stilll seem rather confused.."
"Not a problem, sir, how can we help."
3 minutes later - all booked in, £20 activation fee waived.
Oh aye, also confirmed £97.50 Septmber, £96.50 form October

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
So, I've had an appointment booked for them to install the 50Mb today (31st) between 1-6pm since the 17th, with a letter of conformation received. At 6.45pm there's still no sign of an engineer so I ring CS to see what they're playing at, only to be told the appointment is for the 2nd of September 8am-1pm & was booked on the 22nd of August.
Nice of them to change the installation time/date and not inform me, to say I'm fuming would be a massive under-statement!

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
Ok so I've read alot of this thread but not all.
I am on VIP 20mb. 1 HD box, one SD box.
I pay £92 if I don't make any phone calls. That is going up to £94 right?
So what is the upgrade on offer to me? Thanks.

Same here. I feel like the phone part of the package is wasted on me as I never use my landline. In fact, I don't even have a phone plugged into the socket at the moment as it was just gathering dust. I'd much rather have 50mb broadband and Sky HD and I'm sure others feel the same.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
There has been talk about a new improved VIP package and when I got some mail from Virgin Media a day or two ago I thought it would contain details but it was just advising about the price increases.
When I signed up to the VIP it was really good value.During the spat with Sky I signed up to a 2 pack ( Entertainment & Knowledge) basic box subscription with Sky as I did not want to miss out on Sky One and some of the other channels. Now that Sky & Virgin have resolved their difference I am paying for Virgin VIP and Sky.
I am reluctant to give up on Sky because the sound quality and subtitling is better which is useful as my wife wears hearing aids. However like other VIP users there are bits I do not use like the mobile phone and international call elements.
Being on a pension, I would like to reduce my expenditure. I am currently on 20Mb but would like 50Mb. I have unlimited UK national calls for £9.95 which I would like to keep. I am considering the possibility of getting my telephone and broadband from Virgin and getting my TV from Sky but that would mean giving up my V+ & my spare STB box.
The Sky World package ( channels, sports & movies) plus Sky Plus HD plus multiroom looks promising but I'm not sure if I can get telephone, TV and broadband for less than the £112 I am paying at the moment.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
Well I finally got the new modem installed yesterday, totally pain free and the Prem HD channels were on within the hour. The chap was even kind enough to make me a coax extension when I mentioned I wanted to move the extra Vbox from my bedroom to my son's.
Fantastic speeds so far, can't wait for the upload increase to 5Mbs, if it happens:
Now it's just a case of sorting a swap from the Vbox to a VHDbox, CS are still adamant it's another £49 charge. :/

From 5th August, all VIP 50 customers will automatically receive the new Sky HD premium channels on their main box for no extra cost! This represents an additional £7 per month worth of value included with VIP 50, making our top pack the best way to enjoy ultrafast broadband as well as our complete range of HD channels. VIP 50 customers that have already purchased the Sky Premium HD pack, will automatically see a reduction on their bills, ensuring all VIP 50 customers get the same great benefits.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
Good grief! what a palaver trying to upgrade from VIP20 to VIP50, it goes like this:-
CS lady, yes it will be £96.50 a month plus a one off £40 fee for installation and you'll get it on both your V+ box and your VHD box.
Me , OK thats fine,
CS lady, I'll pass you through to one of my colleagues,
Offshore call centre (John), yes we can do that for a one off fee of £110,
Me, I've just been told that it's £40,
Offshore call centre (John), Hold on for a minute, Yes we can do that for £60,
Me, But I've been told it's £40,
Offshore call centre (John), Sorry that's the best I can do, I'll pass you to retentions if you like,
Me, Ok,
Retentions (Sally) It's £96.50 a month plus a one off £40 fee and it's on one box only,
Me, That's fine book me in.
Three different people three different tales, it's about time VM got there pricing structure sorted out and made it clear and transparent, it's no wonder everyone gives you a different tale. Back in 2007 when we upgraded to the VIP package it took 5 phone calls and three months before I got a correct bill, things don't seem to have improved much since then.
Roll on 17-Sept when it gets installed.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
For a communications company VM's internal communication appears poor.

You still got charged too much, it should only be a £20 fee. Time to call them again.
If it makes you feel any better, I still can't get my second Vbox changed to a VHDbox for free, which is supposed to be part of the deal.
