Re: Are you an HD snob?
Not got a HD TV. Not even got a widescreen TV for that matter.
I do have a 24" 1080p monitor for my PC though.

Re: Are you an HD snob?
We did do all the measurements when we bought our tv ... but spend more time on ordinary tv rather than changing over to HD! It is slightly better but not enough to make us think 'oh! we can change over' ... then I read about the HD recordings taking up more space ........

The recordings take up approximately 4 times more space.

Re: Are you an HD snob?
I find that if I'm watching a programme I soon stop thinking about whether it's in HD or not.
I do sometimes specifically put a HD channel on, but the difference is usually so small between that and the SD broadcast that I tend not to do that very much.
For the amount of HD that I watch, I wish I'd kept my old 36" Toshiba CRT, as it was far better at displaying SD stuff than any LCD/Plasma I've seen.
Basically I'm more interested in the content than the delivery method.

Re: Are you an HD snob?
I'm not too bothered, I watch in HD if it's being broadcast at the same time. One thing I have found myself doing recently is watching a lot of films I probably wouldn't have otherwise just because they're in HD as the picture is just so much better.
For those who say they can't notice the difference then surely their TV is too small, they're sat too far away, they have an older TV that doesn't handle HD particularly well or they've not calibrated their display properly. Having recently changed TVs I can notice a huge difference between SD and HD, it's blatantly obvious even to non HD aficionados like my wife!

Re: Are you an HD snob?
Nothing snobbish about choosing an HD channel to watch the same programme with a clearer sharper picture rather than the SD alternative; Sometimes you can't even make out the faces in a crowd scene. Doesn't matter where I sit the picture is sharper, even though it's a 37inch panasonic.
Must admit though my wife doesn't share my enthusiasim for all things HD

Re: Are you an HD snob?
All i care about is being able to watch the programme that I want regardless of what format it is being broadcast in.

Re: Are you an HD snob?
If there is an option, for example ITV1 or ITV1 HD, Nat Geo or NatGeo HD I will always watch the HD version. On a modern 40" LED set the picture is noticeably better even my mother in law will accept that after seeing some of the BBC stuff. The sound is often much better to (if you have an multichannel AV system).
Not a slave, as I have not moved any furniture or hardware, but a fan. Given a choice would you watch a film on VHS, DVD or Blu Ray??
Footnote my mother in law has subsequently gone with Sky HD service........

Re: Are you an HD snob?
Just out of interest, talking about BBC HD, is it still at ~17Mbps on VM as opposed to the current 9Mbps on Sky? Wondered if they've reduced it on VM too now.

Re: Are you an HD snob?
Amongst other things, I am now known as a HD snob. I much prefer being a HD slag though, I will watch anything in HD .
