Question Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

I've just taken delivery of a nice shiny new Netgear RP614 Cable/DSL Router... and can I get it to work? Can I b%&$@#£ s!

I've done everything it's asked me in the Installation Guide, yet it's not working. Obviously I'm being thick here, and it's my fault... so any ideas where I might be going wrong?

I've plugged my cable modem into the Internet port on the router.
I've plugged the cable from the router into my pc.
I've switched on the router, and all the lights seem to be flashing correctly.
I've made sure that my connection is obtaining the IP and DNS addresses automatically.

I've then unplugged the router and the modem.
Turned on the modem and waited for it to stabilise.
Turned on the router.
Restarted the computer.

Ran the Router Configuration program.
Asked it to find my settings automatically.
Entered my username in the username box.
Entered ntlworld.com in the domain name box.
Set it to find the ISP addresses automatically.
Asked it to use the DNS adresses NTL gave my in my welcome e-mail.

And it still won't work.

Obviously not idiot proof these things.

Help?

Looks to me as if you've set it up for ADSL, which you need a username for. Since you've given it a username, it's trying to log on, which you don't need to do with cable.

Remove the username and see if that does it. Also, make sure you're not telling it to use PPPoE.

Try configuring the settings to be fully automatic (I.e. Don't enter the username/password/DNS etc.).

O by the way - Welcome to nthellworld.co.uk...
