Need help to turn blue tooth on
I have a Lenovo: G550 Model no: 2958. If I have a blue Icon does that mean that I have blue tooth. I have tried to turn it on but to no avail. I cant find a button on the laptop either to turn it on.

Enabling Bluetooth communications
1 Slide the integrated wireless device switch to on
2 Press Fn + F5 to make configuration.

Please note however that your model may not have bluetooth even though it has the led for it on the pad.

Re: Need help to turn blue tooth on
the switch is on the front of the laptop to the left of the headphone / microphone sockets, it turns on the radio capability of the wifi card and bluetooth modules (if fitted) or shuts them down eg where you do not want wifi or bluetooth

Re: Need help to turn blue tooth on
If you have the 2958 j6y you don`t have blue tooth, if however it`s the 66y then you have. Have you tried sending some files via the icon to something else (dog and bone)?
This is all the manual has on it

Re: Need help to turn blue tooth on
What happens if you go to Control Panel->Bluetooth Devices->Add wireless device. Do you even have that option (i.e. to pair up with a device with a password or not)?
Also can you right click the BlueTooth icon and select "Add a Bluetooth device"?

Re: Need help to turn blue tooth on
Try clicking Start->Run->type in bthprops.cpl and click OK. Does a bluetooth control panel come up? So nothing happens if you click either send or recieve files after clicking the icon.
Also can you type in services.msc and look to see if there is an entry called Bluetooth Support service.
Seems like your laptop may not have bluetooth capability
You could allways go here and try downloading and installing the Bluetooth drivers for your model and Operating System http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us...egoryID=600154
