Which is the reason why they end up on ebay waiting for some unsuspecting fool to buy one thinking it will work when it simply will not.
Just to clarify for those still confused with this thread is that if the box and card are not registered as being installed by virgin media they simply will not work. Every box and/or card has a seperate ID number and no you can NOT change the ID to one of a box you already own

We are starting to ask for their return and you can request a free returns packaging from Customer Services.
Buy a Vbox and let it hold your door open by all means.

Virgin officially do ask for them back, it's just some agents don't process the disconnection correct and order the returns pack or pick up visit
Once Virgin finally introduce the non-return replacement charging for all customers I would say the returns will improve for some reason

With out reading the small print - If "anyone loans kit" in return for a service. The collection of that item is down the the supplier ,it is NOT for the customer to arrange its return.
They must offer reasonable access for the supplier to collect.
That is a passive action they are not required to move the goods off the premises.
Also if not collected in reasonable time frame ( normally 14 days) They have the right to charge for storage.
They can dispose of the item after twelve months ( having given notice that they intend to do so) as they see fit.
I would keep a full paper trail if going down this route. Names dates copies for letters E mails etc

That will be for Ben to answer, I doubt routers would be included as we only offer a 2 year warranty on them.

Always best to leave the question open to prevent someone going "Oh no you are wrong"

I don't understand, why not routers too?
I thought ALL equipment remained the property of VM, and is therefore VM's responsibility to dispose of in accordance with the WEEE directive.

Re: Second hand V+ boxes
I think this is misconception of WEEE. There is no actual responsibility to collect equipment under WEEE if it's not being replaced by something else if the company is part of the Takeback scheme i.e. local recycling centres
So if you buy a Cooker from Currys, and then later on you don't want it anymore you wouldn't be able to force Currys to collect it as they would tell you to take it to the recycling centre
The only time there is usually a requirement to collect old items is where a company is replacing them. So if you buy a new cooker Currys will normall take the old one away
So Virgin will collect the equipment they can reuse easily.
