micropcsupport.com

Hi

I just received a phone call purportedly from the website in the title. They suggested that they had seen my error reports (can't see how) and they then sent me an email which included an .exe but I got a little worried at this point and they suggested that it would scan the system. At this point I was really worried and hung up

is this a legitimate business or is it a scam?

Re: micropcsupport.com

In my own eyes it's a scam, they prey on people who don't know better and make them believe that their system is at fault or at risk. Nothing really that cf or other support sites can't give you for free

Cheers for that, I was pretty certain it is scam but I thought I'd better get a second opinion

Re: micropcsupport.com

They're not doing anything illegal but they're charging for some really simple and easy things that you can get free at so many resources on the internet. Also they scaremonger over simple problems and also some things that are not really a problem as it's subjective as to the experience of the user

That's exactly when I got really worried - I asked what it would do but the reply was a bit vague and I didn't want to unleash something on my system when I wanted to go back and watch the football

Re: micropcsupport.com

The EXE will probably configure your PC to remote access and also scan your PC (a bit like a Hijackthis.exe report) so that they can see exactly what you;re running. That's their game they get you to believe that you can't do without them and then they charge you either an annual or one off fee to fix what really doesn't need fixing..

Such is the way of PC support these days

Stick to the forum if you've got a problem, you might get a slanging match between myself and Zing about the problem but it will be honest and experienced advice
