Looks like the new virgin status pages are up and running
Apologies if this is old news, but I though it was news worthy.
Seems quite useful (better than the old system anyhow)
What do you think?

Now impossible for anyone thinking of signing up to check out their area beforehand.

Always makes me chuckle that, when you are having broadband problems you therefore cannot check things on-line.

Why do they make it harder to use? U can't check other areas either now.

Agreed. It's a shame that there is no postcode option.

A FULL postcode search is going to be added soon.. the old system of putting up postcodes only wasn't very good. Some postcodes are massive and would cover many cabs, thus giving false information to customers on the unaffected cabs.
One of the benefits of this new system is that it now will allow you to see P2 outages on your cab, that previously wouldn't be seen.
So if you are on a cab that has 200 other customers on it, then you will now see it. It works by matching your exact details to the cabs affected, so giving more accurate information.
It also gives you the current information DIRECT from the fault ticket.

Re: Looks like the new virgin status pages are up and running
Cheers for the explanation DF, I didn't realise that a post code could cover a large area. Around where I live each postcode covers only 5/6 individual buildings. I guess it varies with the type of area you live in.

Yeah, a full postcode is only a few houses for most, but when we used to put up say BN42 or L36 and we had 342 customers offline, those postcodes could potentially cover thousands of customers.
Now when customers call through to Support, the same system recognises your home 'phone number and if you are on a cab that is part of an outage, then you will be played your full postcode back to you and then the fault information.

Off topic question (appologies) when I phone Virgin and have to enter my phone number at the start of the call why does it always tell me that I must have made a mistake and that I need to enter the number again before telling me there is a problem and carrying on without it. Has always done it but when I phone always end up in India and can't be bothered to explain this problem on top of the other query that I am phoning for!
As for the improved status page I think it's much better, was always as hastle trying to navigate around the old system this one is clear to see, enter my phone number (which it validates!) and then gives my three green ticks... simples!

Don't know. Will have to check. It works with all other phone systems and on the Virgin system I can then press the different options to get to the right person its just always on the phone number!

I think that it is easier to use and shows the fault in your area not an adjoining one which may have no impact whatsoever on you.

And you have Virgin Media 'phoneline too? Very odd...
I sometimes do some testing on this and a couple of times I've had the "sorry I didn't get that" but re-entering works ok

Just cutting down the amount of "bad" you can see in one go I guess... Rather than before, getting a big long list of stuff that's broken, you now just get a little box saying "yup, your TV is screwed..."

I get the unrecognised number error when phoning too. I guessed it was because I ported a BT number to VM.
