Or you may be registered with the Mail Preference Service to avoid unsolicited marketing literature.
I imagine the letter is being sent to all addresses in VM cabled areas to coincide with the current TV advertising campaign for HD but it will take a while to reach everyone.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
I received the letter here in Telford the other day and can confirm it too.
It's good to see Virgin are now advertising it with as many methods as possible.
On the way to West Brom the other day I saw at least 3 billboards with "Amazing HD" on it and then BGT had the advert inbetween, and then the letter in the post.
Keep up the work

Yes i agree But i used to be a postman and did not see anything with the mail preference service to stop things or it just may have been with the Barnsley delivery service or just the rounds that i was on ?

You have to be careful and read (almost) everything. My wife has, on a few occasions (that I know of), earmarked things for recycling because they looked like junk mail but weren't. In two cases, they were important information from our dental practice. I can't recall what the others were but they were directly addressed to us but perhaps badly inserted into the envelope so that the full addressee details were not visible in the envelope window.
I have OCD-like tendencies and can generally identify our regular post by the typeface or handwriting of the address, envelope style, mail carrier, return address etc. In recent times with companies merging, changing hands, using external mailing services and economising by changing from coloured headed paper and pre-printed envelopes with coloured logos to black and white, it is harder to spot what's from whom and if it is of any interest without opening it.
At least the Virgin Media mailings have the Virgin Media logo on the envelope (for now).
