yes, but how do they prove that the husband forced her to wear it ,after all given that husband and wife are ...for want of a better phrase ..extremely religious she will not (probably) turn round to the police and say "he made me wear it"

As a motorcyclist I have to remove my helmet, I'm not a criminal but appreciate that common sense dictates I do so for cctv reasons.

I would expect all members of society to be treated equal, religion should be no excuse for exclusion.

To be fair, he could have been trying to be humorous.

The woman was Tunisian and she would have been in trouble even in Tunisia(or Turkey) entering Government buildings, schools or universities.

What a pathetic excuse for a man this wimp is, the police should now nick him for kidnap or hostage taking, society would not put up with his paranoid behavior in any other circumstances save in the name of religion which in this case he has perverted out of recognition.
I really cannot understand how a modern liberal democracy can turn a blind eye to what in my opinion is little more than enslavement.

Just as an end note its good to hear a local iman coming out in support of the banning of face veils, "We are for the freedom of women and against face veils of any kind, and Italian laws must be respected".
Why on earth our politicians can't grow a set and come out against this travesty is beyond me.

Your comment about Turkey is misinformed - whilst 99% of the population is Muslim, it is a secular democracy.
