Agreed - I use surge protectors for most electrical equipment, as they are so cheap nowadays.

Re: How many PCs does your household have?

All my stuff is surge protected, well it might as well be since the 6 way surge protection extension leads at ASDA were 2 for £8 or £7.97 each

If you can somehow get your hands on a surge protector with Internet access you`ll surely win hands down, even with your solitary Desktop.

Re: How many PCs does your household have?

A lot of us have all their PC's, multimedia, networks, hifi, TV's, all linked together.
Imagine if you got a huge surge or lightening strike!

It would be the end of the world as we know it!

Which is the reason why I bought my surge protectors. Thet are really cheap these days.

Re: How many PCs does your household have?

There I was thinking that I was excessive. Looks like I'm just fine.

1 x work laptop
1 x personal / study laptop
1 x desktop

Apart from those wife and myself have a PDA each for when on the move, and there's a Wii.

Other than that a couple of routers, one for each Internet connection, one of which is a PC of sorts.

These are between 2 adults and a child. Unsure what else apart from a perhaps a file server, which is in progress, we'd need, more than 1 machine per person strikes me as being unnecessary but each to their own I guess

the OP did say PCs to be pedantic only one of those is a PC lmao lol iirc PC originally used to refer to the IBM PC and Clones although nowadays the Mac is closer to the original methology than it used to me lol

Mac are however are Personal computers but that is not I believe is not the spirit which PC was intended
