He said greater use of faster internet would also allow people to have more say over government policy, such as through e-petitions, and create some 250,000 new jobs

Say hello (and goodbye) to the Internet.
The latest political chew-toy, since all the perennial ones are too ripped up to save.
Please meddle with me, regulate me, bury me under bureaucracy until I'm unrecognisable and unusable.
Why the hell can't they leave anything alone?!!

Re: Finally We All Might Get Good Internet?
Whoever presents the best plan for each project according to the Digital Economy bill. Nothing BT specific at all.

Re: Finally We All Might Get Good Internet?
after moving from the city to a village.....you can only imagine how different the speed is!!! =(
its laughable that he says that uk is going to 'lead the way' when we're already soo soo soo soo so far behind .....what a jerk he is!?
having said that tho...the idea is sound enough..... force every company to stump up some cash... sorry...invest in a fibre optic main frame for our 21st c. super highway.....more than likely due for completetion some time in the 22nd c!!!!!!

Re: Finally We All Might Get Good Internet?
Bearing in mind we're in a recession, who is supposed to pay for all this magical work?

Now that I would happily pay to do on condition I can stick something either sharp or seriously unpleasant in the pie.
As far as costs go you guys do remember that 50p/month phone line tax that was discussed right? This is a reannouncement of that, just electioneering nothing more.
