You're on either the Birkenhead or Bromborough hubsites, which are part of "Manchester". It's ex-C/W.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
I've got an idea for Virgin how about two bars to tell you how little space you have left on your V+: One telling you how much space you have left for SD programmes and the other for HD programmes.
ALSO (I was going to start another thread on this but thought better of it)
I don't stop watching T.V at 23:55 like Virgin would probably like me to, SO I don't appreciate my TV freezing for half an hour so it can sort out any "updates" it wants. I want to be able to change channel, watch VOD, or watch a V+ed programmed if I want, without the box doing absolutely nothing!

I live in Newport with the NGTV change. Will my area come under Cardiff?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
Some news on HD line ups.
Some could be early 2010 release but expectation is either all or most will be late 2010 early 2011 (Note nothing 100% that all will be on VM as some will be partnered by BskyB)
Comedy Central HD - 25% owned by BskyB & 75% Viacom so could be a Sky deal only.
E! HD - may not happen due to lack of HD content
Bio HD
History HD
BET HD
Bravo HD - plus maybe Bravo+1 HD but it might be pulled
QVC HD
ESPN America HD - This will happen
ESPN2 HD - This may not get released to UK but we will have a ESPN2 channel with ESPN renamed as ESPN1 and the ESPN HD channel showing 1&2 content.
ESPN Classic HD - This wont be until 2011 and will be upscaled SD again some doubt if this will get released within UK.
VH1 HD - Maybe, HD/upscaled SD.
Animal Planet HD
FTV HD (Fashion TV)
CNN HD - Maybe
Sky Sports News HD

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
If I had to put a number on it I would say 10 of these will happen
With, E!, BET, QVC, ESPN2 & ESPN Classic not airing in the UK - but you never know with broadcasters.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
VH1 HD? Are you having a laugh, they have no HD contnet to show, they could just increae the bit rate and the picture would improve.
Comedy Central HD is the one I would love the most (along with ESPNA HD), it is the most watched channel in our household.

Hence why I stated upscaled SD.
Some of our so called HD channels already do this

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
But those channels also have HD content to put on them. You cant have a HD channel with just upscalled SD. You might as well increase the bitrate on the SD channel and save a load of money and bandwidth.

They will do the same as MTV HD BOTH HD/upscaled SD content.
Same as the likes of C4 HD, E4 HD, EuroSport HD, FX HD the list goes on.
There are only a hand full of channels that show full HD content i.e. non SD upscaled

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
Your missing the point, what does VH1 show that has HD content? I hardly ever see new music on there so all their music videos they play are going to be SD anyway.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
I wasnt intending to join in the "when is my headend being upgraded" debate until I saw that until this happens I wont get the full range of HD channels.
Whilst I dont feel as strongly about this as some other forum members (although I understand their strength of feeling) as I am actualy happy with the upscaling capabilities of my V+ box, I am a bit annoyed that I am paying the same for my service as other people but wont be getting the same level of service.
Now I am realistic, I understand that pure logistics mean that the change over cant happen at the same time for everybody. It would not be fair on those who have had the switch over to have to wait for the rest of us before they get the channels.
I do think that VM should provide those of us that have to wait with a slight reduction in subscriptions until the change takes place. Truth is (IMHO) that VM will be aware that proportionaly there will likely be very few subscribers that are aware that they arent getting the same service as others (probably mainly those subscribers that also use forums such as this one) and so dont really care about the few of us that do know.
As I said this IS a bit of sour grapes, because I am reasnobly happy with SD, but overall I want there to be fairness. If I pay the same as others I should get the same as others, if it isnt possible to provide me with the same service (and I realise it isnt) then I shouldnt pay the same.
Oh yes, and that headend question.... When is Colchester changing over?
