Virgin supervisor saying I can't get the TV services, when it's possible.

Basically I just spent 20 minutes on the phone to a supervisor, and my house isn't available for the TV, but it is the phone and broadband(through the bt line)!?

My house and others aren't available on my street apparently.

I was on NTL before virgin was virgin. I had the old cable boxes. I have the cables running in here from underground.

He's saying on the phone that they're analogue not digital.

Can somebody explain to me why I can't have fibre optic or digital television?

A friend who lives 2 minutes down the road who was also on NTL had it all fitted. but not fibre optic. but he has the TV. and he has the same cables as me. So I'm guessing he was also Analogue too!?

They said they would send someone out to check. But I'm not convinced any one will come as he sounded pretty adiment it wouldn't work. Without explaining my friends situation and mine wich are both the same except he has it and for some reason I can't.

I just rang my friend. He said they had no problems switching over. He has the same cables that lead out to the street as I do. He doesn't have fibre optic but I'm guessing he could if he wants to!?

He said everything went digital from analogue and should be updated. Is he right?

I'm not 100% clued up on all of the analogue/digital difference but seeing as he's exactly the same as me, and I can't get it is confusing me. seeing as he lives 2 minutes away. It seems like they just don't want to install it on certain houses.

Nobody has fibre optic cable to their house.
Virgin's fibre network only runs to the nearest green box. It then undergoes optical to electrical decoding and the signal is sent from that point on down a coax cable to your house

Have you tried the postcode checker? A similar problem is already being discussed within this forum. Can't find link at the moment

Yeah I tried the post code checker and my house isn't available. I thought it was in a previous thread I posted but it seems like I got one of the addresses muddled up with mine.

The thing I can't understand is we had NTL before they were Virgin, so we have all the cables, etc

Is there somebody on here who can tell me if it is possible for me to get fibre optic broadband along with the TV in my area if the post code isn't showing my address is allowed but we have everything for it to work?

Sorry wasn't a school holiday when the Q4 results were announced, so I was too busy teaching. Not even I could justify getting 9 year olds to listen to that.
