Email problem
I have a desktop with Outlook 2003 and have added a new Virgin Media email address settings to this.
On the email settings when I click on Test Email Settings it all completes fine.
The problems arise when I send/recieve, I get the Enter Network Password prompt, The correct User Name is already shown, I enter the correct password that I set up when setting up the new mailbox with VM and I check Save This Password In Your Password List, then click OK.
The Enter Network Password box appears a second time and I enter the correct info again, I then click OK again.
I then get the following errors:
Receiving, reported error (0x800CCC92) Your email server rejected your login, verify your user name and password in your account properties.
Anyway I have entered in the same new settings etc into a laptop with Outlook 2003 and the new VM email works perfectly.
I have checked soooo many times and both computers have the same settings so why is the email on the desktop not working???
Any help would be great.

Re: Email problem
I have 5 other email mailboxes all ending with @blueyonder.co.uk. I have created a new mailbox with @virginmedia.com and this is the one I am having problems with. I have since upgraded to Outlook 2007 but am still getting the exact same problems as earlier.
i have telephoned VM and they confirm that I am entering the right password in.
When I said that I can receive on another computer he said it was due to a server problem with Microsoft!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are aware that the @virginmedia.com addresses setup differently to @blueyondr.co.uk addresses and if you do not follow the instructions to the letter they will fail to work.
As in the username is the full email address as in bill.smith@virginmedia.com and when you finish setting up you have to go back to the properties box and change the port numbers and enable SSL.
Check out the link I posted above for full instructions.

Re: Email problem
Moldova: I followed your link to the letter, as soon as I click Test Account Settings i get the Enter Network password, the User Name is correct, I type in the correct password and check Save this password in your password list, click on OK...........and it fails!! Error messages are:
Log onto incoing mail server (pop3) Your email server rejected your login, verify your user name and password in your account properties etc.
Send test email message: Cannot send the message, verify your user name and password in your account properties. The server responded: 530 5.5.1

Re: Email problem
If it's OK on one PC but not another then I'd be looking at differences in settings on the PCs. Antivirus and other security stuff springs to mind. In particular are the firewall ports open for POP3 and SMTP authentications?

Re: Email problem
Latest news, I have entered the same setting on to Outlook Express and it all works fine. Just need to sort out the Outlook 2007 because that is what I'd prefer to use.

You should be able to import the account into Outlook from Outlook Express.

Re: Email problem
Just try deleting the e mail account from Outlook and setting it up again - this sometimes works for no apparent reason
