Re: No Surround sound on V+
My Yamaha amp has HDMI switching, does the V+ box support sound and picture via HDMI. I'd imagine the answer is yes, but might aswell ask.. lol.

Actually Pro Logic did use surround speakers, a front left and right with a centre channel made form both of those a mono rear channel often with a left and right. This was originally used in the cinema but was latter sold to home users. You will notice a lot of 90s US shows will have available in Dolby Surround imprinted in them at the beginning using a matrix track that in embedded in the stereo track. Videogames in the late 90s also started to use this Dolby Surround.

The answer may be 'it depends on your amp'. My Sony surround sound amp has HDMI switching but it is a very basic switching. It takes sound from the HDMI from the V+ box but the sound handshaking comes from the TV. Therefore, everything comes out as stereo!
To fix this, I use an optical cable and set the HDMI Audio override to 'on'

Re: No Surround sound on V+
Most AVR are switchers and repeaters nowadays and should give sound and picture via HDMI. Anything with HDMI 1.2 should be able to do multi channel sound.

Yeah my Yamaha 1900 does sound and picture via HDMI. I've got my PS3 and Blu ray player connected to it via HDMI. True HD and DTS HD that way.
