its all fine and well people in the know saying there is new XL TV exclusive channels on the way but all us in the general public see is that channels we were getting on XL package as exclusive by paying extra for the XL pack are now being made available of no extra cost to L TV subcribers but we are still paying for less exclusive channel content.
we dont know that this is all being done to make way for new XL exclusive channels all we have to do is take your word for it as there is no official word from VM.

im not doubting you im just stating the opinion that the general public is getting.
YOu really have a weird chain of thought, how does giving l customer a few channel devaule xl? so should they jsut add new channesl to xl and then l cusotmer say what about us? there only moving the lesser watched channesl down the premium or good channesl say exculsive after all they want peoel to take out xl

Cant blame virgin anyway there nothing worng witht hem moving channels about they do it all the time well not as much now a day but they still move channels up and down, and there nothing in the term and condation to say that a channel has ot stay exculsive to xl it at virgin discreation

I hope they do get more HD channels especially Sky Sports and movies. I've watched Prem football on ESPN HD around a mates house, looks awesome.

I love HD I got a Panny blu ray player and PS3 so I've experienced HD on my Toshiba LCD TV. So I'm looking forward to the V+ box.

My package will be £55 is that good, what do other peeps pay? Thats for XL TV no phone line, Sports and movies pack and V+ box. Also a £75 fee. I'm currently a VM customer.

My set up is Toshiba 46" LCD TV, Yamaha RXV 1900 Reciever, 7.1 speakers.

Forgot SKY HD channels they wont be coming unless virign are willing ot pay over the odds for them or will charge virign cusotmer more than sky cusotmer get charged for them

It's not a weird chain of thought at all.

L costs £10 a month, XL costs £21.50 a month. That £11.50 extra gives you an amount of extra channels, if they move channels from XL to L then you're still paying £11.50 a month more, but you're getting LESS extra channels for it. Hence devaluing it in some people's eyes.

Yep, I see your point. If I pay for 500ml and then next week get 330ml for the same price, it has been devalued. However let's see what VM are going to do and see if something is announced next week.

It's also a view that ignores XL has had HD channels added, ESPN (and before that Setanta) and various other channels over the time, without people rushing to give VM more money.

but thats why you pay the extra £11.50 to get the exclusive channels as they launch or become available. the price increases every year and are due to do so again soon so if you pay for the XL pack you expect to be given priority on new channels.

plus we didnt get ESPN added they just replaced Satanta so using ESPN as an example is void. i do agree we got HD channels but so did the L TV package although not as many.

the point is Channels keep appearing on L TV that were XL TV exclusive and until anything is announced doing so devalues the XL TV package.

To me you have just answered your own point. What is the point moaning about it when it would be easier to wait a few weeks and see what is announced. If the announcement is just the launch of a few +1 channels then I will be with you all the way, but until then I don't think it is worth going on about.

The L package got one more - C4HD

All the others are in XL, and I bet any new HD channels will also be in XL only

4HD is in M package (as well as L and XL)

Also any idea why when you can no longer choose M TV when you "build you own bundle" online? only M+ is available.

VM used to make a big thing of advertising their free (M) TV pack, now it's hidden away in the small print at the bottom of the page.

ESPN replaced setanta yes (which is why I mentioned setanta) but what did Setanta replace? People will say sky basics.. but now both of them are there? That is a huge amount of value right there for XL seeing as the channels cost up to £10 alone.

The point is you can't really say it's devalued when things are moved down, without also saying it's value has risen when things are added. It all evens out to the point that XL still holds considerable more value than L. Infact I'd say that XL today is worth far more over L than the XL of 3 years ago.

Annual price increases generally have nothing to do with added content and everything to do with inflation.

Yes it did, but the L package was specifically mentioned so thats what I was discussing.

Maybe because Virgin no longer want to make a big deal of the M package and would prefer people bought the M+ ?

I'm sure VM would rather people spent more money buying more of their products, but if they still have the M TV pack, at least let people know about it.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

TV M is now a 'last ditch' package, just like BB S is

It is not part of Virgin's actively sold services.

For instance if you take out any of the current 2 month free TV offers, the minimum package you can downgrade to in your minimum term is the M+
