Cable Modem Ethernet Blinking
Hi,
I was just wondering if this is normal or not?
I used to have the old NTL modem and everything was perfect, and when I got this new black Virgin Media one, ive noticed the Ethernet light blinking like mad all the time.
I just remember that the SEND AND RECEIVE always did but not ethernet.
The enet light shows any ethernet comms activity (local side of the modem) where as the send/recieve shows activity on the cable side of the forum, hence it's perfectly normal for the enet light to blink on the modem modems.
It will though depend on the chipset and how the lights are wired up. That'll mean that because it flashes on the modern modems it might not on the older modems
I still have an old NTL modem and the ethernet light blinks somewhat often.
What annoys me is when my RDY light goes out and then everything starts to blink! Really annoying when you are playing a game on Xbox Live and then lose connection!
