Re: Pop3 email with Thunderbird

No I can't make it work with those setting from that link
as soon as I enable any authentication in "Outgoing server" (smtp) section , email sending stops

smtp.ntlworld.com
using port 25
Secure Authentication No
Connection Security : None

are only setting which work for me
But it seems v2 was happy to work with "Authentication" before- or it made a hash of migrating the setting from V2 to v3.

Since I'm now able to send emails ok - I suppose it doesn't really matter but seems to conflict with the available advice - so odd ?

Thanks : But that images is pop3, (yes I know thats in the title of the thread ) but its the SMTP bit thats not working for me (should have started another thread I suppose)

My pop3 (incoming) is working fine with Secure Authentication enabled ! (opposite of your image)
Ah but I now see I'm using port 995 for pop3 - probably the secure one ?

Pop3 email with Thunderbird - the sequel

Thanks to Moldova, I followed the instructions, and am now able to access my @virginmedia.com mailbox via Thunderbird 2.

I then set up a second @virginmedia.com mailbox, with a different password, and am trying to access that mailbox through Thunderbird 2. But I cannot get to it, getting a 'failed to connect' message each time, instead of the password box. I have carefully followed the same instructions as those that worked for the first mailbox. I am still able to access the first mailbox via Thunderbird 2.

Any suggestions ?

Re: Pop3 email with Thunderbird

It's still the same issue (setting up VM email with thunderbird) so no need for a 2nd thread.
