Modem Stops Then Starts.

Right for the past 2 weeks my modem/internet keeps cutting off, after 2 or 3 minutes it comes back on, this happens every 3 or 4 hours each day, my step sister has been having the same problems too, what could it be?

Re: Modem Stops Then Starts.

Post what modem you have and your power levels from your config pages of your modem. The should be a sticker on the bottom saying what model.

If using an Ambit modem please click here
http://root:root@192.168.100.1/CmOpConfig.asp

If using any other modem click here
http://192.168.100.1/

What I want you to post is the Downstream power levels including the SNR and the Upstream power levels for me thanks.

DO NOT POST YOUR MAC ADDRESS OR SERIAL NUMBER

----------------------------------

You need to call Tech Support which is open 24/7 on 151 from your Virgin Media Phone.

It's absolutely free.

Or call 0845 454 1111 from any other phone line.

I used newgroups and its much easier!

Hi Frankie,

I can see that your modem power levels are too high on the downstream
(12.3dBmV). In order to resolve this we would need to arrange an engineers
appointment for you.

Could you please advise a convenient time from the following:

Monday-Friday: 8-12, 12-4, and 4-7.
Saturday: 8-12, 12-4.

they are coming out on Thursday , thanks everyone

You need to call them and ask if it was an area issue as otherwise they owe you a tenner.

Re: Modem Stops Then Starts.

Ok just rang them, he said that there was no engineer booked!,i told him i did book one on newgroups when they asked!, he asked what was my problem so i told him that my internet keeps going off because my power level is too high, so he walked me through some stuff like, switch modem off, restart computer, restart router, i knew none of this would work, after all that he said he was not gonna send out an engineer because there are no problems! so it looks like im getting to different stories.
