Not every Israeli or Jew supports Israel's policies towards Palestine*. Treating the entire people as one is a recipe for trouble. Imagine an American not wanting to play for a team that contained Iranians or Afghans? Think of all the countries that wouldn't want to play with a team that contained Britons because of the screwed up stuff 'we' have done in the past?

He also doesn't want to play with an Algerian! He is at best xenophobic.

*Personally, although I obviously intensely dislike some of it, I think not all are without merit.

I dont consider him racist considering Israel is made up of more than just Jews and it's the treatment of Arab Israeli's he is making this stance for but you knew that anyway I'd imagine and have resorted to weakest resort possible by using dictionary definitions.

And anyway, its news to me that Avram Grant and Tal Ben-Haim are solely responsible for Israel's policies for the last 40-odd years. You learn something new every day
Not solely responsible for but if they haven't come out and denounced their government for their actions then they bare some responsibility. You know it'd be funny if it wasn't so tragic that any criticism of that countries policies are shot down amid accusations of racism, even when foreign Jews criticise they are labled as self loathers and the like.

Its called evidence. Evidence to prove that are wrong and have not got the faintest idea what you are talking about. That or you are trying to (pathetically) defend your own prejudices. Which one then?

Does this standard also apply to you and your country's actions? Or is it only famous people who should abide by this?

I wasn't really talking about Palestinians but they way they treat fellow non Jewish Israelis.

And I wouldn't hold the Algerian thing against him at the moment, that's bitterness rather than xenohobia after the play off game, after all I wouldn't blame an Irishman for not wanting to play with any of the French team at the moment, see if he still says the same this time next year.

Evidence is that what you call it, I say it's more like laziness, having to resort to dicitonarys does nothing for debate and I haven't got any idea, I'd remind you it's not me trying to call some one racist when the country in question is made up of more than one race.

Absolutely, I didn't read it properly the first time, I thought it was the club who would be refunding them but it's actually the players - good on them

FIFA to meet over the Ireland - France match

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ls/8375320.stm

To be honest I think FIFA \ UEFA and the FA have shot themselves in the foot over this already. When was the last time you watched a match without seeing people diving and rolling all over the floor pretending to be injured. For me it would be several years ago, and then if you add in players getting the slightest touch on the face and having to roll on the floor, getting kicked in the foot and holding the knee as it is easier it gets worse.

Players like Ronaldo and Torres who two of the greatest players in the world at the moment have to cheat every match and get away with it

Player we like (i.e British) it's Sportsmanship.
Player we dislike (i.e Foreign) it's Cheating.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010

I'm still in favour of having a panel watch games after the final whistle and if there was any diving or unprofessional conduct during the game hand out 2 or 3 match bans to the culprits.

It wouldn't interfere with the game but would hopefully concentrate minds that if you do get an unfair advantage you'll be sitting out the next few games.

i'd like something like that but as we have seen with Eduardo and others all that happens is the team appeals and then because they touched a blade of grass or had the slightest contact possible the ban gets reduced.

What we need as an over reaction as I don't think a 203 game ban would have an affect. I'd ban players for 5 games for a first offence and then 10 if they did it again then it would really help to cut it out
