Temporamental Service in the Portsmouth (PO4) Area
For about the last week I've had problems with the Internet randomly disconnecting. Releasing/renewing the IP with the router usually fixes the problem (sometimes the modem gives me a 192.168.100.x IP, other times I get my usual external IP). All signal levels look OK to me, based on the sticky, but I'll paste 'em up anyway in case I've missed something, or something else is unusual.
I called virgin and after 15 minutes waiting was told 'the equipment used to check your signal levels remotely are unavailible at the moment, call again in a couple of hours', 'I can tell you the signal levels from here', 'No sir they are different, please call again in a couple of hours'.
Fobbed off much?! Anyway thanks in advance for any suggestions you guys might have.

When it disconnects, what is happening to the modem lights?

Your Upstream is to high at 61.0dBmV so you need to call Tech Support on 151 from a Virgin phone line or 0845 454 1111 from any other phone line and they should book you an engineer.

The ready light goes off and the sync light flashes for a bit. It doesn't usually take long to resync and become 'ready' again though.
As far as I recall it has always been that level on the upstream, but I never usually have problems like this. Neighbours internet is fine who are also on Virgin too though...

The reason your Ready light goes off is that Upstream power level it is to high.
Please have a look at my title above my avatar for a clue as to why I am telling you to ring up.

If that really is the reason the ready light goes off, why has it not for so long before as it's always been 61... I will try and call them again later, as I already did call as I said in the first post and they were useless.

Call tomorrow as soon after 0800 as possible, if I took your call I would book an engineer with an Upstream that high.
