as it happens that is exactly what it is down to, now why have the discounts not been applied? is this a fault of virgins or the customer i.e should they be automatic, and they have been paying roughly the same for about 18 months

Could be two reasons. A lot depends when they first joined.

1) If they are in Bill Area 01 - 18 and have been with cable before 2007 then it will be down to ex-telewest's price policy which would charge full price for all services.

2) If they have joined since Feb 2007 then it's likely a billing mistake - although there have been several different prices for their services even since then
