Question Google maps slow even on 50mb.

I have noticed for some time that Google maps is getting slower and slower, to the point of getting stuck. This was particularly severe when street view came in. It makes no difference whether I go in direct through Google or via some site using Google maps. Maps get stuck at partially loaded or virtually freeze when I zoom.

Is this likely to be a Google problem, a VM problem, or is my ageing PC unable to handle that amount of data?

Re: Google maps slow even on 50mb.

Do get this occasionally here at work (non VM connection) the main Google Maps site will sit with "Loading..." at the top of the page and a map that doesn't work, eventually changing to a message about it's taking longer than it should.

Again sometimes the pages on our website that use the Maps API don't load correctly either, not very often, but a refresh cures it.

Re: Google maps slow even on 50mb.

do you have google earth installed ?

I had this problem and uninstalled and then installed the previous version of google earth and this fixed the problem. I believe the problem was with the api that google maps/earth uses.

I think it's your PC, or some type of plugin thats causing it.
My work PC is rubbish on google maps... (its an old low spec pc). However another PC at my work (newer) on the same connection is great.
