Hard drive diagnostic SW
Anyone point me in the direction of some free HDD diag software that will run from a flash drive on boot.
Got a lappy sitting here that is having real trouble taking an OS and I think its the drive so I could at least rule that out.

Re: Hard drive diagnostic SW
Hiren's Boot Disc and the Engineer Boot Disc have HDD dianostic tools, although I'm not sure if it's bootable from a flash drive.

Re: Hard drive diagnostic SW
If I put Hiren's on my USB stick, could I still use that stick for data storage, or would it become redundant?

I can't seem to find a download for Hiren's. It lists all the features but no link. :S

I would not advise anyone links to it here as it has been questioned as to its legality

Re: Hard drive diagnostic SW
Ah, could that be why they don't have a link on their own website then?
Alright, cheers.

Re: Hard drive diagnostic SW
yes, that would be it, google should point you in the direction, as would many other sites where you can get "stuff" 9.9 is latest, it has a live windows option on it now to which can be useful. Try looking up Max Thrane
