V+ box unresponsive
My V+ box is not responding to the remote.
The only thing that works is the +ch/-ch buttons.
The LED is flashing on the box for all buttons, but nothing happens.
I have rebooted the box a few times, once it started working properly but not for long.
I have also removed the batteries from the remote and replaced them with new ones.
I have only had Virgin for 2 months - not impressed.

Re: V+ box unresponsive
Is there anything nearby that might be causing interference to the remote signal?

Nothing that wasn't there before.
I switched off the energy-saving bulb that I have read may cause problems - it's not that.

It isn't the TV that's not responding - it's the V+ box itself.
I just disconnected it from the mains for 10 mins - no difference.
Is there a way of resetting the remote itself? Or will leaving the batteries out do that?

Re: V+ box unresponsive
If you've changed the batteries it's unlikely to be the remote.
Is the V+ in a reasonably ventilated space? Is the V+ front panel clearly visible (line of sight) from your remote location. There have been stories / suggestions of things like flat screen TVs overhanging the STB can be a problem, but I'd be quite surprised.
As you've rebooted the STB a few times, I'd be calling faults.

It does have an Xbox on top of it, but that's been there all the time and it's off anyway.

Yup.

I'll be doing that in the morning.
I'm starting to regret changing from Sky for the quicker Broadband, especially since the rate has been progressively going down for the last 2 months - it's the same as Sky now at 6Mbps - rebooting the modem makes no difference to that either.

Covering the box isn't a good idea.

Re: V+ box unresponsive
Do you use SCART to connect the V+ to the TV? If so, make sure you've got the cable plugged into the "TV" socket, not the "VCR" one.
If that isn't the problem, call Virgin.

WOW! that was it, one of the kids must have been trying to be clever while I was at work.
I dunno why that would work but it did!
It definitely was plugged in the TV socket before.
