There is not xxl (50Mb) in that, therefore its not in the contract? I mean if they did plan to introduce it, then a refund for the activation and installation should be given.

That's a good point really. they say that customers are informed about STM in the Need To Know part of their site. people who sign up for 50MB check that before they sign the contract but it's not on there.
so when they do start STM in the contract period time that many people are on then it could be free cancellations for them if they want.

That was showing you that they let customers know about possible STM or trials on STM and was used as an example.

You will find that the Terms and conditions allow changes to be made.

I know that. but what I asked was what about trials. do they have to tell us about trials? you said earlier that they would tell us if they were trialling and what areas these would be.
is that just out of courtesy, or is it because they might have been told that they have to inform people?

Legally yes, that is why those pages exist otherwise they would leave themselves open to being reported to OFCOM.

I know it's not STMd at the moment, but when and if you knew it was coming because of a memo or something. do you think Virgin would allow you to tell the customer that it will be soon?

I thought they had to. because I remember when STM first started and they were doing trials without telling anyone which areas were affected by them. Alex brown said that they didn't have to tell anyone as they were just trials.
goes to show that OFCOM can do something useful now and again

I would never tell you something over the phone that had not been announced first as I could lose my job and any call centre agent that trys to be clever by even hinting at anything to a customer is treading a fine line as what the customer is told may not be the final version at release.
I would only ever post here information that is freely available to anyone who cared to look for it.

Re: 50 crap down to 3meg CAPPED
Only a matter of time.
You will find that hidden inside a web page/an extremely small print part of the contract agreement/ a seemingly part of an obscure document that 50M uptakers have agreed to---
IS A SECTION THAT IN FACT MEANS you will only be able to use that speed for ---
ON a 20M line about 23 mins B4 you speed drops to a 5th for 5 hours
On a 50M line your worst guess is probably way above what will happen.
Virgin WILL NOT give you full speed 24/7 what you pay for on ANY BBAND PACKAGE
WHAT ON EARTH MAKES ANY OF YOU THINK STM WILL NOT HAPPEN ON 50M
Seriously im interested to hear your comments.

I can't speak for anyone else but I already know that it will be STMd as Berkett has already said it will be. once they've got enough people on it. with 12 month contracts to fulfill

No one on this thread has said it will or won't happen, but the is no timeframe or even any details posted anywhere that are from Virgin that say 50Mb is to be STMed anytime soon.
That does not mean that it will not be STMed sometime in the future but still then no one knows.

Shouting your opinions (CAPS) may not get your comments taken seriously, particularly when you have a pop at people who can think for themselves sir.
