A new ad campaign by the Metropolitan Police warns the public to be on the alert for strangers who look at them in a funny way, and to check the contents of their neighbours’ bins.

The latest in the "war on terror" is that around 60,000 people in various capacities will be trained to spot "suspicious", i.e. terrorist, activity - people such as department store managers and the like.

In other words, the general public is now expected to do MI5's job for them. Pathetic at best. Trainspotters beware.

Don't they realise that the climate of fear and suspicion they're creating is exactly what the terrorists want? There will be so many false alarms and overreactions that the real terrorists will simply slip under the radar. This is perfect cover for them.

Whose side is the Home Secretary on? It makes me wonder if Quantum of Solace is rather closer to the truth than fiction. Or, for that matter, Red Dwarf: Back to Reality:

If we are all looking at each other it makes it easier for this lot to get upto more of the shabby antics that seem to be so prevelent amongst them these days. There is a difference between involving the public and turning them into little spys ready to report the slightest thing and i wonder how long it will be before these little spys have their range extended.

Nice one, that was one of my favourites voter citizen, there was also this slogan on a poster.

Well it seems we've already done that, I knew I wasn't paranoid maybe every Muslim is out to get me Maybe the government are trying to surreptitiously tell me to make a preemptive strike against my Muslim neighbour!! eehhmm yep that must be it, lucky I've got enough savvy to read between the lines.
Now I think about it the fact my neighbour hasn't got a big bushy beard, the fact he genuinely loves his adopted country of Britain could all be some devious underhanded plan to lull me into a false sense of security, then BAM I go out to my car one morning to find he has let my tyres down and has grown a W.G.Grace.
Its just damn lucky we have a government that cares enough about us not to let us become complacent...that's one in the eye for all those people who said I was insane.

Anyway back now to voter colonel Sebastian Doyle. aka Peter Mandelson.

Terrorism is if what we are led to believe commited by Muslims.
This is nothing short than stirring up racial hatred.

they were telling us not to let it worry us as that is what they want. us to panic. but they are intent on making us panic and take being looked at funny as the signs of terrorism.

I wonder if they'll come out about my neighbours. she keeps hiding her face with a mask and there's always funny smells coming from her house. even the rubbish she puts out smells strange and is leaking on the floor.

I advise you take action against your neighbour Gary, that all sounds very suspicious to me mate, funny smells coming from the kitchen, what more proof do you need!!!
