Re: recommended motherboard upgrade

Agreed, i don't see whats wrong with the P35 chipset, probably one of the best chipsets intel have released in a long time, no need to upgrade at all.

The only thing the new board offers of note is that it's PCI-e 2.0 compatible, which, unless you have at least a GTX295, you won't come close to maxing out a 1.1 slot (which are on the P35's)

Re: recommended motherboard upgrade

Thanks for the input, The reason for the upgrade athough a bit long winded was I've started to suffer a lot of BSOD's, what happened originally was not all the internet page showed up on screen, so I tried a restore and it crashed after that,I also use acronis and as soon as I started to restore image again it crashed, I've done a clean install of vista sp1 and again the bsod keeps happening, when I originally bought motherboard vista installed perfect no problem so I think I have a piece of hardware thats starting to fail although not 100% certain, I have a suspicion its the hard drive so I might change it to see if the same bsod still happens, so my logic was to upgrade the motherboard also if that makes sence.

Re: recommended motherboard upgrade

What are the error codes on the BSODs? It might be possible to find out what is causing the problem. Also take a look in the event viewer.

Re: recommended motherboard upgrade

Is there a place where the error codes are stored, as bsod screen flashes up very quick, In hindsight you could probably say any piece of hardware could cause the problem.

I've just done a google search on bsod's so I will see if I can trace the fault code and post later

Re: recommended motherboard upgrade

right click my comp select properties and advanced then click start up and recovery and untick auto restart.Next time it crashes you will get the code. If you dont and it still reboots then it could well be your psu

I have the P5Q pro mobo happy with it
