Its available in M7 area and my M8 area as far as I am aware, got my installation date yesterday for the 6th March 2009.

20Mb is still playing up badly, disconnecting and reconnecting every 2 - 3 minutes, with constant timeouts. I hope that 50Mb works perfectly first time, all the time.

Are you on a 'salf' UBR? Some parts of Salford are on Wardley (ward) UBRs, and don't have 50 meg yet.

Or it might just be it's not available in your street yet.

Sadly, they go by hubsites rather than towns, so while you're in Salford you are connected to the Wardley hubsite.

A wait is in order.

Postcode checker says Blackpool not activated, yet selfcare will allow me to upgrade to XXL?
Can anyone confirm if Blackpool has been upgraded for 50Mbit yet?

Selfcare will be more accurate and up to date than the postcode checker, just ring up tomorrow to get confirmation.

Selfcare claims it for me as well but I know there's no 50Mbit here. The equipment is yet to be installed and turned on.

C:\Documents and Settings>nslookup mort-cmts-05.network.virginmedia.com 194.168.4.100
Server: cache1.service.virginmedia.net
Address: 194.168.4.100

*** cache1.service.virginmedia.net can't find mort-cmts-05.network.virginmedia.com: Non-existent domain

EDIT: Ah I see, you go to try and order the service it does a postcode check, having the option present doesn't mean it's in your area yet.

Re: 50Mb areas

By that token, does this mean that wardley hubsite can accommodate 50Mbit?

Current gateway is: cpc2-ward5-0-0-gw.manc.cable.ntl.com

H:\>nslookup ward-cmts-05.network.virginmedia.com 194.168.4.100
Server: cache1.service.virginmedia.net
Address: 194.168.4.100

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: ward-cmts-05.network.virginmedia.com
Address: 82.7.203.33

Re: 50Mb areas

Ah no no no.

There are only 4 CMTS at Mortlake hubsite, so when 50Mbit is about ready number 5 will come online.

In Wardley there are... 7, so number 8 is your lucky number.
