It's not going to help them pay back debts if they start losing customers....

That is true so it is a tight rope they will need to balance on for a while. Already people moan about service, depends where the people will be going from? Are they going to keep the shops? Do they do much business?

Speak to most old-timers and a you'll just get apathy and a shrug of the shoulders - here we go again.
New re-org, new managers (meet the new boss, same as the old boss) centralise, regionalise, re-invent the wheel for the 7th time....... pah

You're not wrong there, I know many people in VM who feel the same. It just grinds you down in the end. Luckily I got out years ago during one of the many previous "culls".

Russ did work for ntl you know back in the day. Though I do think like me he left before some of the major 13 - 3 CS/TS restructuring and outsourcing took place.

I left the place way back in 2001, at the time there was a huge reundancy programme the management called 'Planning for Growth'
I was placed on 90 days notice and 6 months later I was still not officially told if I had a job or not. I asked for redundancy and was told my job was ring fenced and there was no redundancy available, so within a month or so of deciding to leave I found a new job.
There was a period of around 5 years where some employees at CableTel/ntl/VM or whatever had been on 30 or 90 days at least once a year. These people do get thick skins because it becomes part of daily life, what it does however is produce a workforce who don't give a toss about their employer and this unfortunately is passed on to the customer.
As previous posters have said, every re-org is just the same as one they have tried before. I sold my shares at a nice profit not long before I got out, at a time when they were at $97 and senior management were boasting about how they would top $300. I laughed at how many fools believed this and said I was mad selling so soon, but I always maintained that ntl was riding on a crest of BS.
I don't think there has been much change in ntl/vm since I left, morale is probably worse and employers are treated worse. The rot has spread through the company like cancer, but unfortunately they seem to cut out the good cells instead of the bad ones.
