I have my main pc upstairs and my laptop downstairs. My wireless router is upstairs connected to main pc. How can i get my laptop to talk to the printer? Everytime i want to print i have to put my documents on a usb pen then go upstairs and print from main pc.

Is the printer attached to the main PC? With XP in the printers folders, right click on you printer and choose sharing... Choose the Share this printer option and give your printer a name. Take a note of the name of your main PC at this point.

At your laptop go into printers folder and choose add a printer. In the add printer wizard choose a network printer or printer attached etc..

Choose the second option (Connect to this Printer) and in the name dialogue type \\yourcomputername\yourprintername

The printer should now install.

Get a Print server, plug into your router and printer.

Cheap as chips.
