Poor reception on BBC HD and more 4

Recently my V+ box is giving me picture beakup accompanied by frequent breaks in sound on BBC and More 4.
I recently rang up about this and was told to do the usual "remove power to the V+ box for 30 seconds" He also said he had "increased the power" or some such unbelievable phrase designed for the gullible.
Whatever the reason things were OK afterwards. However now I am getting the same phenomenon on BBC HD. It seems to me that this must be due to a reduction in bandwidth as clearly BBC HD needs more of it.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I am in the Teesside area.

The bandwidth on BBC HD is the same as it has always been. It's likely you have a signal level problem, and you'll need a tech sending out to correct it. Get on the phone again.

Thanks. I did as you suggested and an engineer's coming in on Thursday morning this week. I will report back on results.

Re: Poor reception on BBC HD and more 4

I had problems with my V+ boxes recently and the nice engineers fixed attenuators between the cable and the V+ box - result - better picture!!

Ask for either a 6 or 10 db forward path module.

Good luck

Re: Poor reception on BBC HD and more 4

OK. Every morning this week HD was bad. Switched TV on Thursday morning and it was bad then went good, so of course it was good when he arrived. Sod's Law or something. Engineer came and said:
-Your router is too near to V+ box. They work on the same frequency and so the router will interfere with the cable TV
It's been like that for over a year I said. Still, you need to move that router he said
Then he said he would attach me to a different amplifier in the green box just down the street and see if that would make any difference. He went out and said that is what he was going to do but said he wouldn't be coming back to check if it made any difference. I watched from the window and he just drove off without doing anything.

In spite of all this, the TV reception looks a lot better all round and BBC HD is fine. Sometimes I think I'm imagining it. Maybe they corrected some general fault which made things better on Thursday morning before the engineer even arrived. Who knows? It's a mystery!

AND I've not moved the router. I think that was a complete red herring. What do you all think?

He also wanted to change my settings so that channels transmitting 4:3 pictures were in widescreen. I prefer it set so that widescreen pictures are widescreen and standard size are standard size. Please leave it as it is I said. OK he said, looking at me as if I was the strangest person he had ever met.

Could this be a BBC problem I also use Freeview on a different TV in the morning to watch BBC news .

the last few days it has been very poor - SKY news is fine on the same set.

Noticed BBC i player giving a lot of problems as well as BBC over the last few days
