Dial up from mobile help.

Anyone tell me what number I need to use to dial in from laptop with my mobile phone. Do I need to use some.user@ntlworld.com or just some.user.

I've tried using both with no luck so far, using the number 0845 1120550.
Must be doing something wrong.
Phone dials, establishes connection then kicks me out with invalid username/password error.
Aslo, do I need to have dial-up activated on my account?

Re: Dial up from mobile help.

Yes you would need a dialup account, you will only get 9600baud GSM normally through your mobile which is pretty useless, you'd be far better using GPRS

Re: Dial up from mobile help.

Thanks. I'm trying to work out how to do that right now.
At least I can give up with VM. Cheers.

Re: Dial up from mobile help.

What network is your phone on and which handset are you trying to use?

Re: Dial up from mobile help.

Try setting the dialup number as *99# and the username as mobileweb and the password as password

Re: Dial up from mobile help.

Didn't work Zeph, but I see where you're going with that.
Didn't even establish connection.
Managed to connect to O2's WAP settings earlier but the data was working out at 16p pm. Sack that.
DNS was screwed anyway.

Given up now. Decided too much bloomin' hassle.
I'm on hols so no biggie. I'll drop into an internet cafe if need be. People have been told to text me if I'm needed.
Be nice to be off the radar for a couple of weeks anyway. We all need a time-out, right?

Thanks for the help tho - much appreciated.

Re: Dial up from mobile help.

Forgot to tie this up. This wouldn't have worked anyhow - there was absolutely zero O2 coverage where I was. I went and bought an Orange sim (bloomin' tenner from Dick Turpin in the local rip-off shop) but same story.
Managed to sniff a wireless ADSL network but it was WPA
At least I got 14 days of peace
