Well I will keep checking back. I will probably ring tomorrow to confirm what is going on, as when I was initially signing up they checked the server and said "its upgraded so you will get the full 10meg". Then got the modem, got it checked and they said they have now activated the 10meg connection, but it never came through so they sent me a new modem claiming the old one must be duff.
But this is still doing the same. I have rang since, they said it is something to do with the modem registering on the server, and its probably just taking its time. Keep rebooting the modem and it should come through, but it just seems ironic that it is always set to 4096000 which is the speed the old large package was on, so I assume they have got their wires crossed somewhere?
I wish they would say on the website when they are planning this upgrade as at least you know if its going to be weeks or months?!
My nephew is in south warrington and he does have the 20meg connection and it does work at 20meg? Could he be on a different server to me??

Well, the Bracknell (RG12 postcode) area has been upgraded. I've checked for the last couple of days, since the upgrade, and I'm getting 9.8 or 9.9 Mb. Darn, that means I'll prbably keep it rather than downgrading to the now lower 4Mb speed and saving a bit of money!

There will be no 4MB speed after the upgrade though!
The 2MB will be the next speed down as this is not being upgraded.

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
Hey,
I'm in Nottingham NG7 and we got upgraded to 10MB over the weekend I think. Service has been a bit dodgy since then though - seem to be experiencing some mild packet loss. Frequently when navigating to a new page, it will time out and I have to refresh one or two times before it loads properly will this settle eventually, or should I investigate further?
Cheers,
Suman

I would expect a few problems during the upgrade but would definately raise the issue with Virgin now rather than wait and hope it goes away!

You've got something like 400 customers on that uBr.
300 have been upgraded from 4mb to 10mb. Of course you'll notice latency and slow speeds etc -- just wait for it stablize, VM will ensure that it's fixed -- if the problem were to persist for e.g.

What's the best way to report a fault/service issue with VM? Webnote or something would be best I guess?

Ok,
I have asked my nephew to send me his information. He is in Warrington WA4 and his modem info is:
Network Access : Allowed

Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 768000
Maximum Upstream Channel Burst : 1600
Maximum Number of CPEs : 1
Modem Capability : Concatenation Enabled, Fragametation Enabled, PHS Disabled
Whereas im in warrington WA5 and mine is:
Network Access : Allowed
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 4096000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 400000
Maximum Upstream Channel Burst : 1600
Maximum Number of CPEs : 1

Anyone know why??

Except L is 10meg, not 4meg? I only signed up a week ago and was assured the server was upgraded so should reach 10meg, however the site says that its TBC for Warrington upgrade. If he is on 20meg then the server in Warrington must be upgraded? But I am also in Warrington but I am not receiving the promised speed so therefore it cant be updated, unless there is more than one server within Warrington? Im just confused as I had promises, which I went with, and now Im paying full price for a half of the broadband package?
I know there are a lot of people on 4meg waiting to upgrade, but when you come as a new customer and you are promised twice the speed and dont receive it is a bit diappointing?

But surely he has, as I thought L was 4meg - 10meg and Large was 10meg - 20meg. So if he is getting 20meg then he has been upgraded? Or am I missing something?!

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
Its been a long and lovely road but at last the reboots are no more for me
No, I haven't had the upgrade - I just downgraded all my services today due to family (about to get bigger) and not being around/online to justify what I was paying for. All that bellyaching for nowt eh? Cheers to eth and WDINAT and the other techs for the help - they should be on bonuses.
Let's hope us lowly 2 meggers get an upgrade one day.
