Re: I have 50Mb.. does anyone else?
OK people, you decide
Below are two images,, one taken from my modem and the other as posted by DannyKilla.
Notice that my (10mb) config list is nice and straight and all report data is inline (check your own ), where as Dannykilla's one is out of line(espescially the data rates ) (I've added the pink line to highlight the vertical)
Do I smell something????

Re: I have 50Mb.. does anyone else?
I've made a quick gif to make comparison easier. I've also made the modem layout the same, so there's nothing distracting. I don't see too much wrong with it, other than it showing a speed that is faster than the modem is capable of.

would be nice, but as already stated the modem is incapable of doing it... Even the dodgy modems only get 20Mb

Re: I have 50Mb.. does anyone else?
Ithink this below which from the Chetnet Knowledge Base wesite will answer all questions already raised in this thread.
Virgin Media 256 (from February / March 2008)
The 256 model will be yet again supplied to Customer specification by Ambit ( www.ambitbroadband.co.uk ). From the outside it is identical to the 255 model, but features a revised Broadcom chipset, the BCM3349KFBG
This modem is still in a black Ethernet only housing, and is still "Dual Mode", and will be deployed across the whole Virgin Media network, including the ex-Telewest platform.
Does support 10 and 20 Mbps Tier of Service, is capable of 40Mbps+
Note: this modem will not support the 50Mbps service that Virgin Media has announced for launch in late 2008.
please check this link for more NTL modem information http://www.chetnet.co.uk/articles/in...x_v2&id=91&c=4

Re: I have 50Mb.. does anyone else?
Looking at the 256 specs the maximum capable (on a perfect line) is 42Mbps which equates to 4300800 (and not a bit more) on the data rate and not the 43.775Mbps that Dannykilla is claiming to get. Even the UBR's won;t allow a dodgy modem to go above 20Mbps

Re: I have 50Mb.. does anyone else?
Just to confirm what everyone is saying, That modem config is as fake as a pair of plastic watsits .
From all the experience in my previous job with cable , I know that config is fake.
That person is lying through there teeth

Re: I have 50Mb.. does anyone else?
I'd like to know why they see fit to do so?
They must know that someone would work it out...
