Question Sky Internet (any users)?

My friend wants cheap Broadband (not fussed for 8mb speeds or Downloading Films) just eBay, Mail & other basic stuff. Not sure what their Monthly Bandwidth would be, but anyone here use Sky?

Looks good value. They want <£15 month B/Band (any other Recomendations?)

Cheers

Re: Sky Internet (any users)?

Need to know what their line is capable of and if they have Sky in their exchange. Have they checked on http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/adslchecker.php ? Other than that have been using it here for a while now (since last year) and its been rock solid.

Re: Sky Internet (any users)?

I've had Sky BB since Feb last year.

Only real problem was down to my flat's crappy extension wiring (since sorted).

Re: Sky Internet (any users)?

if the service is good you will love it.
If the sevice is bad you will hate it.
As with any internet provider.

Re: Sky Internet (any users)?

Sky seem to have a reasonable reputation at the moment for BB. You don't mention what services your friend has, but if they have Sky and the exchange is unbundled (and there is capacity which seems to be an issue) they can probably get the free broadband offer which would be more than sufficient for that usage.

Re: Sky Internet (any users)?

Why not do it this way:

Sky TV
2 for £20 bundle (Phone and Internet together for £20) from Virgin Media.

It saves getting a BT line costing £125!

The installation of Virgin services is much lower than a BT line and you save a one-off £10 per service when you order online.

Re: Sky Internet (any users)?

She already has Sky TV (installed 2 months ago) & is in a 12 month contract. I have sugested her trying 3 or T-Mobile Broadband (no Phone line needed). See what she wants to do lol

Thanks for VM idea. But she already pays Sky.

Re: Sky Internet (any users)?

Yeah what I meant was keep Sky TV if she is happy with it and rather than taking out a BT phoneline costing £125 and then pay £11.50 line rental plus £15 for Broadband

Just take out phone and internet from virgin and keep sky tv- you can do that.

Or you could just take all 3 Virgin services.-after 12 month contract that is

Tiscali also provide all 3 services in some areas too

www.virginmedia.com 0500-500-500
www.sky.com 08702-240-240
www.tiscali.co.uk 0800-107-9000

The thing with mobile broadband is that it doesnt work as well indoors, mobiles were designed for outside find-me-anywhere usage, I've used mobile broadband before and it was so slow i wanted to pull my hair out!!!! All I wanted it for was facebook! lol

Hope that helps!

It does, if your in a HSDPA area the speeds arent bad either, often get 1Mbit/s + throughput and sometimes more than 2Mbit
