But as slow speeds were such an issue for the 1st iphone, you think they'd emphasise the speed on the new one? Just saying '3G' doesn't sound too promising to me. Still as you say, let's wait and see.

You are right, we should wait until the specs are up, but generally, I have found that if something gives him a selling point (and high speed *might* be a good selling point), Steve Jobs will mention it in the keynote. He may not say the letters HSDPA, but I think he would mention it.

Re: iPhone Tips (was UK Release info)
Well, I have a while to go, but when my contract is up in February, I'll look at the iPhone (Apple have address my concerns with the first one).

That's good. I still don't see how it can be faster than the N95 though, surely that's down to the network? I know Tmobile's maximum current HSDPA is 1.8mbps whereas 3's is double that and in some parts of London Vodafone are up to 7mbps apparently.

Well the iPhone has quite a good browser (for a mobile device) and good hardware. Remember of course Apple would have chosen the best possible conditions to make the comparsion.

No UK pricing up yet, nor any details of a O2 upgrade policy

Re: iPhone Tips (was UK Release info)
This isnt that impressive really, its a flashy phone but there is nothing new here that shoudnt have been in the first version.
And only 16Gb is a real dissapointment.
A 32Gb iPhone would have been a real seller for me (as a replacement iPod and phone) but 16gb leaves it in the phone category and as such is a bit lacking IMO.

In a way though its the best move. Keep out everything that's unnecessary and keep the cost down. Better than always pushing the boundaries and keeping the price inflated.
If you want a phone that really does the latter, with everything in a nice iPhone-sized bundle, then you want the Samsung Omnia (i900)

Awesome, but it won't come cheap. It will do 32gb though with 16gb built-in and a 16gb microsd card.

It goes Crazy!
Ever seen 2001: A Space odyssey?
Most likely it stops working, rather than getting damaged.

But I was wondering why the limitation. I know on the iPod classics etc, anything with a CF or micro HDD they have operating problems as they use air bearings and the thinner air does not work as an effective bearing. The iPhone has no moving parts in it so i don't see why altitude would be a problem.

Yeah, but its just a Windows Mobile phone with haptics. I'd like the new iPhone with 32Gig before i jump from my N73 and iPod 4G.

Weird, I see your point. Not sure, The iPhone spends most of it's time connected. So maybe there are signal problems? Could run non-connected apps such as iPod mode or games.
Maybe there is a moving part?

No sign of MMS either.
Still, HSDPA & GPS are definite improvements.
