LLU

What are the basics of a BT exchange been LLU enabled? Are there any benefits to the end user if using an ISP which is LLU'd at the exchange? I am a bit confused by it, can someone please explain it?

Thanks

Re: LLU

Basically LLU is where another provider puts their own equipment into the exchange and then connects it to the local loop (The phone lines)

This means they have their Own equipment and Routes out of the exchange, it allows them to have more control over the equipment and often results in lower costs for the provider.

Also allows them to offer services that BT do not Such as ADSL2+ which BT haven't yet rolled out (But are in the process of doing so... albeit rather slowly)
