Yep ! I like it...It is a "Scientific Atlanta Explorer" made in Hungary.
Like the idea of not having to put the start and end of Progams when recording.

Re: V+ INstalled
I'm hoping to get it installed in the next week or two, filmfan (don't I know you from somewhere!). I hope my experience is as good as yours. I'm still unsure of how much HD stuff you actually get with V+, can you help me on that score? Also, how much HD stuff do you get with Virgin without V+? Finally, can you get BBC HD on VM and if so, on what channel and is it shown in HD? Sorry, so many questions ....

Re: V+ INstalled
BBC HD on channel 108 in full HD (if you connect through HDMI) and most programmes in 5.1 Dolby (if you connect the digital optical sound cable to a suitable amplifier).
Other free HD through VOD Extras. Also, films you pay for.
On standard V box, there is no HD output.
At present on V+, no more HD but a very good upscaled SD picture (for a modern TV through HDMI) on channels which are broadcast in good bandwith. Good picture too on CRT TV's through scart, but set to RGB output.
Like FILMFAN, I am an extremely satisdfied customer and really appreciate the ease of recording all episodes of a series. No problems since installed December 2007

Hi Whicker
The only sites that I use the "filmfan" name are the Dont Dump it in Lincoln and the same site for Sleaford, though very rarely use the Sleaford site now.
I dont have HD TV at the moment, will have to save up a bit for that, But, as mentioned you watch the HD Preview on Channel 108 but in Standard Mode.
I'm experimenting with some of the things on V+ and am in Love with it, had fun last night by keep rewinding on Live TV and watching a Car Crash (Sick Devil LOL) over and over.
Have at last found the BBC Channel that carries "Look North" rather that Central or whatever. Channel 858 and Yorkshire on 870.

Re: V+ INstalled
Sorry to confuse you with another filmfan, filmfan.
Anyway, my new V+ arrives on Friday, so that should prove to be quite exciting. And my new telly arrived today. I was a bit startled that the installer first tried to connect via HDMI and then said "Oh, no signal" and immediately plugged it in via the scart. Should I be worried?

An entirely fair point, cable. To be honest, I didn't really know what it meant (I guess the HD in the letters should have given me a clue)!
OK, I feel, deservedly, a fool now. Just wait until I encounter you on another site dedicated to something I do know about, though - it certainly won't be on this one!

Re: V+ INstalled
No, you are quite right, it didn't make any sense at all. I just had a crisis having read that all hd tellies should be connected via those leads, rather than scart.
OK, a moment of techno-madness, forgive me!
God, I remain so excited by this new telly. The picture on this is Panasonic is wonderful, I can hardly imagine how HD will make it better.

Re: V+ INstalled
oh i see well i dont have a HD tv but i would of thought that in order to get the full benefits you'd have to use HDMI cables as they carry the correct HD signals. again i dont have HD so im just guessing here

Re: V+ INstalled
Well I'm going out on a limb, here, and wildly assuming that the person who comes to install the new HD enabled box just might have brought the relevant cables with them. Call me an optimist!
