Updated in Bournemouth couple of days ago. The best benefit is that the HDD now powers down after 2-3 mins. Peace at last.

I believe it does although I have never actually done it.

Re: When is the next software update planned?

I have one problem since this update and that is if I switch my box off at night in the morning when I switch it back on there is no sound just picture. If I switch to external speakers connected to the audio out phonos on the V+ then the sound is OK but via HDMI there is nothing. Later on during the day the sound returns and is then OK until the next switch off. TV sound on analogue/digital freeview are all fine. My TV is a Panasonic TH-42 PX600 and this has only happened since the update. Anyone else had anything similar???

1) Go into the 'Locked Channels' section of the 'Settings' Menu. You will need the PIN for this bit so the kiddies shouldn't be able to do it.
2) Move down to the movie channels and lock the channel and then unlock it again.
3) Do this for each of the required channels.
You should now be able to switch between the movie channels without a PIN or red button as if they were any other channel. This is how the system should work for us adults that dont have kiddies around.

The PIN protection system seems to work by having a hidden channel lock.
These hidden locks are cleared after the watershed and set again in the early morning reset(6-7am?).This trick will work until then or a STB reset of any sort.

You can 'unprotect' the channels after 7am and unless a manual STB reset/reboot or a VM generated reset occurs there should be no problems for the rest of the day.
Thanks, but I already knew this workaround, but it's still annoying having to do this in the first place.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find an answer.

How do you know when a software update has taken place?

Cheers

Updates usually take place around 5am and Your V+ box will be on Channel 999 if there has been an update.

I've had 2 updates since i had the V+ box and both times my box was on Ch 999 as its not a channel i normally leave it on.

Re: When is the next software update planned?

As I said in the other thread, attaching a box you have bought to the Virgin Cable network is against Terms and Conditions.

As such, Discussion is not allowed on the forum.

Re: When is the next software update planned?

....Press Home button > 8 Settings > 6 Technical Stuff > Press the red button (page down) 3 times and you get to the page where the software version is.

Question Re: When is the next software update planned?

Having been away for several days I chose to cold start my non-HD, non-PVR Pace V Box on Monday morning, as I do periodically to avoid it requiring a reboot at a less convenient time, which it occasionally does. Surprise, surprise, there was an update pending for it which installed okay in a few short minutes.

Here are my box's current details from Settings > Technical Stuff ...

Application Version: 14.120.4p246

Total Channels: 337
TS Streams: 48
Total Services: 337

Hardware Type: Di4000-N
Hardware Version: P3.213
Software Version: 3_7_37_P12EN_P_BonBK_P4000_R_

... and the blue service screens ...

Hardware Version: P3.213
Code Release Version: 3_7_37_P12EN_P_BonBK_P4000_R_
Build Date: Made On Dec 21 2010, 10:42:28

... with plenty more information where that came from.

I have a note somewhere of the previous configuration but it's not handy just now to compare the software versions and build dates. Does anyone know what improvements, if any, I should expect to see with this release? Was the update required to support any other feature changes on the VM network?

Are there other threads covering this topic?

BTW, the field "Can see EMMs" is showing a red "NO" in the blue service screens. I have seen this happen before but it usually shows "YES". Can anyone explain what this means please?

Re: When is the next software update planned?

I was wondering when someone would notice that. No new features - it's in preparation for Sky Sports Red Button. Only Pace boxes need this update.

Don't worry about the EMMs thing. That hasn't worked properly since the new smartcards came out.
