Sky BB and Be set up times?
How soon after I’ve signed up for Be can I use the service?
We’re working hard to get new members connected as quickly as possible, but please allow up to 2 - 4 weeks
Hi is this the same with Sky BB does it take a few weeks for them to activate it? as I'm only on Virgin till the 26th April than thats me away for ever!
But I use the Bb every day, I need to make sure the newBb is up and running before the virgin Bb is binned. But can afford to have two on the go really..

Re: Sky BB and Be set up times?
If Be say it can take up to 2-4 weeks, then I guess it can take up to 2-4 weeks...
Depend on how many orders they have, how busy BT are, etc, I guess.
SkyBB:
When I signed up last year, the router arrived about 1 week after I phoned Sky, & the line went active a few days later.

Re: Sky BB and Be set up times?
I ordered Be on the 11th of March, and got activated two hours ago. So, 17 days in my case.
It's tasty too:

Re: Sky BB and Be set up times?
Dan can I ask what service you went on ?
Trying to weigh up if its worth getting the 24Mb for £18 or just go with the 8Mb considering ive only even had 2mb from Virgin. That now costs me £18..
Plus I may be wrong here but I respect posters like Mat who have maga posts…Can you not get Be or do you think skys 16mb for £10 would be fine?

I'm on the 24Mb for £18. I suspect I can squeeze a little more out of it with some tweaking though.

My exchange didn't get unbundled by Be until a few months after I went with Sky.
Although I still think I'd have gone for Sky if Be had been available, simple due to the cost... I like paying less

Re: Sky BB and Be set up times?
Sky BB can take up to 15 days from time of ordering as they have to request BT Openwoe to send an engineer to the exchange, if your line is tag free it may take less time.

Mine took about a week i think it was...
Depends on how busy BT Openreach are as its them who do the physicall rejumpering in the exchange.
Probably be about the same wait for either.

Re: Sky BB and Be set up times?
Don't worry about fastpath until you know what your pings are, you can be put onto a service with lower pings but this can have a knock on affect with your speeds and stability of connection. Tags are put onto lines to signify that a service is on them, until the tags are removed an ISP cannot take control of the line or put another ADSL service is.

Re: Sky BB and Be set up times?
Thanks for the info again lads!
I'm thinking of going with the Be box first to see what the service is like and
Netgear WN311T 300Mbps RangeMax NEXT Gigabit Edition
Wireless Desktop PCI Network Adapter
I know its higher spec'd than the Be box but I'd rather get this so that if i get this below it should be a good pairing!
Netgear DG834N 270Mbps RangeMax NEXT Wireless ADSL2+ Modem/Router

Sorry Paul,
Sky BBand DO NOT support on line gaming & will not adjust ping times or change connection types, That was what I was told when I worked for Sky BBand in the Tier 2 dept (which then merged with Tier 3) up until Jan this year.
We were ordered not to deviate from the 'script' provided by Sky.
