Re: Recomend Me A Freeview Indoor Ariel

I'm sorry, but 'indoor', 'freeview' and 'quality' don't generally go together.
You could try the most expensive TV top aerial from Argos and then return it when you've tried it because I seriously doubt you'll recieve a watchable signal.
I live about 15m from a Freeview transmitter and barely get a good signal with a mid range aerial 10ft above the chimney

Re: Recomend Me A Freeview Indoor Ariel

I have this one - http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...46229&doy=20m2

It sits on a windowsill facing a car park, the local transmitter is 90 degrees to the left on Kilvey Hill a couple of miles away. I get 85% signal which gives me all the usual channels.

Re: Recomend Me A Freeview Indoor Ariel

The good thing about Crystal Palace is that its digital signals can all be picked up with a Group A antenna. The antennas arms are spaced and of a specific length to make the antenna particularly good at recieving certain frequencies. An indoor antenna will be a wideband antenna, not particularly good at any one set of frequencies so a bit hit and miss.
I'd get a small group A antenna and build some sort of stand for it.

I guess it depends where you live.

I have a cheap tesco antenna on my media centre pc and my thomson top up tv hdd - both have no problems.

Nearest, about 8 miles. Nearest main tx about 30, the one I use about 50 miles.

Picks up all DVB-T channels, on laptop, PC and freeview box. You do need a booster to go with it, but the aerial itself is good and Im not a fan of integrated boosters.

Re: Recomend Me A Freeview Indoor Ariel

I don't know how that other one works but it is likely to be a loop aerial boosted to the hilt to make it useable. But a booster is analogous to a volume control and is only as good as its input. All aerials are loop aerials with varying degrees of channeling the signal onto the loop. The Telecam is a perfectly good aerial and because it doesn't come with a booster you can select your own.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decibel click there for an explanation of what dB is.

Re: Recomend Me A Freeview Indoor Ariel

I'm 18 miles from Crystal palace, and an unamplified 7 element log periodic "Antiference Silver Sensor" gets partial results.

The Telecam appears to be a 10 element

Log periods are wideband, and cover all channel groups properly. Real cheapo conventional yagi (equal length elements) set top antennas are often not adequately widebanded, as this takes more design skill, and often have low rear rejection or even reverse gain on the group A channels - I junked one of those nasty things that cost all of £2.50 from a discount shop.
