I told my landlord who's a copper, he said you did the wrong thing and in another way you did the right thing. Nothing has come of it as yet, no police have been to my place, the guy in question hasn't been seen since the incident yesterday.

Chances are thats the last you will hear about it. Keep a low profile, watch your back, & keep your mouth shut.

Re: Threats to kill

If someone gave such a threat I would go to the police and insist that they pay the guy a visit. This could atleast scare him off and make him see sense or for him to know that you are taking the mattter very seriously.

These days taking things into your own hands is just asking for trouble as people prosecute, press charges, etc for any reason.
I know it must have been not the best thing to hear that someone made a threat to your life, but you hurting them doesnt do you any favours if this escalates into a court case.

Good luck. I hope all turns out ok for you.

But, what if the situation at the time prevents you from going to the police?

The threat might have been there and then, at the moment and not a quick shout through his door kind of thing where you have time to phone/visit the police about it.

Maybe it's time they reviewed your rights as to when someone does threaten your life.

True, but it would be difficult to argue that time prevented you going to the police when you activly went out to look for the person later to 'do him in!'

1. Would you strike while the iron is hot and take him out before he gets the chance to have a pop at you.

2. Leave it and see if anything happens.

3. Fill him in then phone the Police and Ambulance then explain yourself to them when the damage has been done?

The 3rd option sounds good to me.

golden rule never argue !! get in there and make sure he stays down.
