Blu-ray vs HD DVD... looks like the war is over

Wal-Mart is the latest retailer to ditch HD DVD & go Blu-ray only.

http://checkoutblog.com/entries/2008..._platform.aspx

And, following on from that, plus the previous huge blow of Warner ditching HD DVD to go Blu-ray exclusive, it now seems that Toshiba is ready to throw in the towel altogether...

I think they did yeah, I saw it on Eurogamer somewhere, they said they were 'keeping their options open' or something to that effect. Emailed the BBC about it this morning and they want to interview me now!

Re: Blu-ray vs HD DVD... looks like the war is over

If the HD DVD format does dissapear there is no reason to get rid of your players and discs. They will still work!

Re: Blu-ray vs HD DVD... looks like the war is over

MS working on Blu-ray Xbox 360 & Blu-ray attachment?

Quote:
Rumors are afloat today that Microsoft is set to dump HD DVD and release a Blu ray Xbox 360 by as early as May 2008. Microsoft insiders have said that MS have already configured a standalone Blu-ray player add-on for the Xbox 360 and could be on sale withing 3 months, subject to internal marketing and sales approvals. MS has also been working on a Xbox 360 with a built in Blu-ray drive, however they say its unlikely as MS believe the HD format battle is moving online rather than with physical discs.

Re: Blu-ray vs HD DVD... looks like the war is over

Hope MS do move to a Blu-Ray attachment, would save me the pain of getting a PS3! Would like them to sort out some compensation for my HD DVD player too but I very much doubt that would happen!
