The Hobbit
Quote:
Peter Jackson, Oscar-winning director of the Lord of the Rings movies, has signed a deal to produce two films based on JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit.
The filmmaker had been in dispute with New Line Cinema over income generated by the first film in the Rings trilogy.
"I'm very pleased that we've been able to put our differences behind us," said Jackson. "We are delighted to continue our journey through Middle Earth."
A director for the films - prequels to the Rings movies - has yet to be named.

Re: The Hobbit
I'm surprised they're making two films, are they going to call them:
1 There
2 and Back Again

Maybe not directing the picture but he is 'THE MAN' executive producer. It'll still be his film.
I'm hoping Jack Black gets a part in the movie..

Why?What film in his repertoire leads you to believe he would be ideal?

Re: The Hobbit
I'm sorry but most readers of Tolkien have had a humour bypass and would rather a 'serious' actor was chosen.

Most definately. It's hard to believe I know but some readers/fans of Tolkien's work think its actually TRUE!!!! Now there's a very scary thought.

Re: The Hobbit
I must admit it has been well over fifteen years since I last read this properly, so I look forward to the films with interest. But I suppose I'd better see if I can find an audiobook version.
